USA Season : 2019 (Rounds 1 to 10)

This competition was slow to get proper coverage at the official site, but information can be found on a Wiki page entitled '2019 USARL Season' if you wish to follow it from there. Otherwise, yours truly will also be doing periodic updates although not as often as the Wiki one.

Here are the games so far. Blue shading is for the Northern Conference and yellow the Southern one. In the south, one game in round three was called off due to weather and will be replayed at a later date. In rounds 1 and 5, the SW Florida team fielded ineligible players and lost their two points on each occasion (four in total). Round 6 also had a bad weather cancellation, in this instance Jacksonville are awarded the two points and a 30-0 scoreline. In round 7 yet again weather intervened in a game and what the outcome of that is yet to be stated.

In round 8, two games were not played and the matches forfeited so two 30-0 results. With weather, ineligible players and no-shows, this has been a trying season. Hopefully the administrators have things in hand. For round 9, another fixture was not completed due to weather.

The season ended with matches not played not counted. In addition, teams that were deducted points were in some cases losing four points. I found that very unusual but have run with their system. As it turns out, it makes no difference to how the teams line up in the finals. The Atlanta Rhinos pulled out of the SCF series and the only side in that region not to take part.

For the tables, see below. A pink shading means a game was forfeited. Orange points deducted for ineligible players, green the match to be replayed (hopefully) and for the Southern Conference, blue denotes a bye.

International Results (Women) : 2019 May/June

The international calendar for women's RL isn't as busy as the men's but it is catching up. Four matches will make up this summary.

18th May, Istambul, Turkey. Turkey vs Italy

I couldn't predict the score due to a lack of history and form to go by. The match was played at the Beylerbeyi Stadium with the hosts taking an early 12-0 lead. Italy scored just before the break to trail 4-12. Turkey then got away to 18-8 and a late score by Italy was insufficient to take the lead.

Turkey Women 18-14 Italy Women.

22nd June. Auckland, New Zealand. NZ vs Samoa

I watched the full match which was televised on NZ television. The Kiwi Ferns were expected to be too experienced for their island opponents. NZ hit the ground running and were ahead 26-0 in the first half. A late try to Samoa on the half time hooter gave them something to cling to. The second period was a continuation of the first.

NZ Women 46-8 Samoa Women

22nd June. Sydney, Australia. PNG vs Fiji

This was Fiji's first women's international mach so a total unknown as to how they would perform. As it turned out, the lack of experience didn't count for anything as they went in at the break up 12-0. The second half was much the same as Fiji announced their arrival in the women's game with an emphatic victory.

Fiji 28-0 PNG

22nd June. Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. Italy vs Serbia

Serbia were making their first appearance in the sport against a more experienced Italian team. The Serbs had only a few months of playing behind them and the side was comprised of members 18 years of age or younger. Due to that, the 12-0 lead to Italy after the first stanza was a good result for them. Italy then pulled away to win comfortably. The experience will be invaluable for all the players.

Italy 26-0 Serbia Women
