The League. Wigan came top with 40 points, Leeds were next on 36. Widnes were third equal with Bradford, St Helens and Hull FC with the points differential ranking them in that order. Castleford were 7th on 32 points.
The Challenge Cup. We take it from the quarter finals. The results were Wakefield 14-26 Wigan, Bradford 10-12 Warrington, St Helens 44-10 Whitehaven, Widnes 4-16 Oldham.
The semi finals pitted Wigan against Saints, the former getting home 20-14. Meanwhile, Warrington squeezed past Oldham 10-6. The final at Wembley had an attendance of 78,000. Wigan were too good for Warrington, winning 36-14.
The League Cup. Again from the quarters. Leeds 10-10 & 0-8 Wigan, Halifax 23-10 Featherstone, St Helens 32-18 Oldham, Sheffield 2-18 Castleford.
The semi finals saw Halifax upset Saints 10-9 while Wigan unsurprisingly defeated Cas' 24-10. 18,000 came to the final at Headingley, Leeds to witness Wigan take the title 24-12.
Lancashire Cup: Into the semi finals where Oldham surprisingly knocked out Wigan 19-18 and Warrington accounted for Oldham 24-16. 10,000 came along to Knowsley Rd, St Helens as Warrington took the trophy 24-16 against Oldham.
Yorkshire Cup: Strangely, the two semi fianls games were tied and had to be replayed. In the first instance it was Halifax 16-16 & 4-26 against Bradford. On the other half of the draw, it was Featherstone 18-18 & 28-26 over Castleford. The final was held at Headingley, Leeds where nearly 13,000 watched Bradford take the spoils 20-14 against Featherstone.
The Premiership Finals. The top eight from the league squared off for this important series. The quarter finals went this way: Hull FC 32-6 Castleford, Leeds 12-15 Featherstone, Widnes 30-18 Bradford, Wigan 2-4 St Helens.
Semi finals time and Hull FC defeated Featherstone 23-0 and Widnes did likewise with Saints 38-14. Over 40,000 went to Old Trafford to see Widnes triumph over Hull FC 18-10.
Summary: Wigan were head and shoulders above the rest, winning the league, Challenge Cup and League Cup. That gave them 72 points according to my rewards system. Bradford came in with 48 points, with Yorkshire Cup their trophy. Widnes got 46 points, winning the Premiership final. Warrington were 5th with 43 points with the Lancashire Cup in their trophy cabinet.
