The Northern Swords came in 7th again, not winning a game in the first three years of the competition. The Central Vipers slipped a place as did the Wellington Orcas. The beneficiary was the Waicoa Bay side, moving up two spots to 4th.
The top from 2011 were there again but in different places. The South Island dropped to third, Akarana too while Counties-Manukau leapfrogged them to the top with an unbeaten record.

The final had the two Auckland teams fighting it out. Akarana had won the first two held while Counties had lost the first final so had a score to settle. Unfortunately for them, the final went Akarana's way 38-20. They had won all three and showing they were the best of this regional national competition.
