France Elite Teams By Season : 2014-15

There were only eight teams in the Elite One for this season, not many. Was the reason to maintain a higher standard of play and other sides weren't deemed good enough? I can only assume so. Those same teams dominated in the cup competition so there were but nine sides that feature on the list below.

The Elite One: AS Carcassone won the league by a whisker from Toulouse Olympique, with FC Lézignan third.

Finals: Four additional sides joined for this series. The semi-finalists were AS Carcassonne (who defeated St Estève - XIII Catalan 44-6) and Toulouse Olympique (narrowly overcoming FC Lézignan 21-20). In the Final Toulouse Olympique triumphed 20-12 over AS Carcassonne. 5,800 went to Colomiers, Toulouse to support their teams.

Lord Derby Cup: In the first Semi final, FC Lézignan accounted for AS Carcassonne with a gritty 8-4 win. The second pitted St Estève - XIII Catalan against Sporting Olympique Avignon. The former prevailed in a high scoring gane 54-20. The closely fought final saw FC Lézignan come out on top 27-25 against St Estève - XIII Catalan. 4,100 came along to Carcassonne to see the final.

In summary, FC Lézignan were the top side along with AS Carcassonne who both scored 48 points. Toulouse Olympique on 44 and St Estève - XIII Catalan (42) weren't far behind.
