Wales managed to have two matches, one against France and the other opponent England. Wales was unlikely to win either but the experience would be invaluable. That said, the latter match had heavy defeat written all over it.
France 14-4 Wales. The clash was held in Carcassonne with about 1,000 in attendance. It was the first ever meeting between the two sides. Errors put Wales under all sorts of pressure, leading to a 10-0 lead at the break for the locals. The second half had both sides scoring an unconverted try. The way the game panned out, the result was never in doubt but it did the Welsh defence a good workout.
England 60-0 Wales. It was always going to end with one outcome and the 20-0 halftime lead was doubled in the second period. Players in Wales need to be regularly exposed to a higher level of the game or this sort of scoreline will be the inevitable result.
